Elaine Welteroth  |  Rowan Blanchard

Under Elaine's editorial leadership, Teen Vogue has become one of the most culturally relevant and talked-about publications of 2017. She's a content creator who isn't afraid to take risks and inject a human element into her work—and it's been paying off in spades.

As editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue, Welteroth is responsible for representing Teen Vogue's editorial vision, while also expanding the brand's presence through new consumer experiences and products. Most recently, Welteroth served as Teen Vogue's editor, where she managed the editorial direction of the magazine. She is largely responsible for the expansion of Teen Vogue's coverage to include a wide range of feminist, social-justice, and political topics, alongside fashion, beauty, and entertainment news. Welteroth edited September 2016’s For Girls By Girls issue, which was shot entirely by female photographers, and set the tone for the brand's increased emphasis on diversity, female empowerment, and cross-generational conversations. Welteroth joined Teen Vogue in 2012, when she became the first African-American to ever hold the post of beauty & health director at a Condé Nast publication. Prior to Teen Vogue, she was the senior beauty editor at Glamour and the beauty and style editor at Ebony magazine, where she started her editorial career. Welteroth is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento and resides in Brooklyn.
