When you touch down in the city, you may be inclined to head straight to your hotel. But if you want our advice, we’d begin your excursion by getting to know the city and people of Boston. Home to the oldest college in the United States, Harvard University, founded in 1638. Other highly ranked colleges in the area include: Tufts University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Culture Trip reports that there are 54 colleges and 250,000 students in the Greater Boston area alone. Another educational honor is that the city is home to the first public library and public school. With a strong history of education, Boston innovation doesn’t take a back seat. According to a 2022 data report by WalletHub, Boston ranks 6th out of 150 US cities for the Most Educated Cities.

According to Britannica, Boston has established itself as a cultural center in its own right. Many of the museums have roots dating back to the late 1800s or early 1900s, with collections competing with notable world installations. From the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Museum of Science, Museum of Fine Arts, and Harvard Art Museums, you won't be short of exclusive masterful pieces.

Boston-based businesses are making their mark as well, with ten local businesses — HubSpot ranked 11th — awarded a spot on Glassdoor's Best Places to Work in 2023. In 2022, Growjo called Boston, “the startup capital of the east,” due in part to how fast these companies are growing per capita. Other notable brands, based in Boston, that continue to thrive are: General Electric, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, Wayfair, State Street, and more. The lifestyle brand, Life is Good, founded in Boston in 1994, works with communities to provide services to children in need, and to date has provided support to over 10,000 childcare professionals.

As a bustling coastal city, it would be hard to leave Boston without some seafood. If hunger pains are striking, enjoy a lobster roll and oysters at Neptune Oyster—or go straight to dessert with the Boston Cream Pie at the Omni Parker House Hotel, the official Massachusetts State Dessert. If the weather is pleasant, relax on a bench in the Boston Commons, and feel emboldened to meet someone new.

While you ease into an action-packed week, take a moment to pause and ruminate on your hopes and goals for the next few days. As you move through each day of INBOUND, evolve your experiences with HubSpot, and make the most of your time. There will be sponsored events at local restaurants, community meetups, product showcases, and even breaks to take in a game at Fenway Park, or stroll the halls of the Museum of Fine Arts to delight all senses.

On behalf of INBOUND and the historical city of Boston, we welcome you.
