Jesse Williams is an activist, actor and entrepreneur best known for his work as "Dr. Jackson Avery" on ABC's hit series Grey’s Anatomy. In addition to his on-screen work, Jesse has served as a senior producer and correspondent alongside Norman Lear for the EPIX docuseries, America Divided, as well as executive produced the documentary Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement, which premiered during summer 2016. Williams' executive producing has extended into a series of transmedia art installations called Question Bridge: Black Males, which is displayed at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture and serves as one of the museum's permanent collections.
He is the founder of the production company farWordInc.. After receiving the 2016 BET Humanitarian Award, Williams gained international attention for his acceptance speech.
Williams is also the co-founder of the Ebroji Mobile App, a popular cultural language keyboard, and BLeBRiTYgame - a successful mobile game centered around black culture. He is a partner and board member of Schools, a mobile app that diligently works to connect students to over 80 million dollars in unclaimed scholarships.
Currently the youngest to sit on the Board of Directors for both The Advancement Project and Harry Belafonte's arts and social justice organization SANKOFA.ORG, Jesse continues to fight for equality and civil rights when he's not working on a set.
