We love to learn as much as we can from our speakers, and we've found their answers to these 10 quick questions pretty inspiring and informative. It's a bit like shadowing along on their workday and having a peek over their shoulder to see how they remain so creative and productive. We call the series "What I Read and How I Read It." Today's guest #INBOUND16 speaker is Iliyana Stareva, Principal I Channel Consultant at HubSpot. Through her answers get a look at how she manages to keep up with critical info online.
What is your #1 source for staying on top of your world?
This will sound crazy but my HubSpot work email when I'm at the office or work from home. I learn so much from my colleagues and my partner agencies and they inform me about a lot of things too.
When and what do you read online?
I use feedly and I follow quite a few blogs there! Usually, it's a mix of inbound marketing, PR, agency business and general business blogs and magazines. I've written a post about what I regularly follow and how I learn here.
What is your favorite place on the web?
My Instagram feed. It's a great way to stay up-to-date with what's happening in people's lives and the experiences that touch them.
Which people or feeds or blogs do you follow?
- Moz, HubSpot, Kissmetrics, SpinSucks, HBS Working Knowledge, McKinsey for industry news
- Wadds, FuturePRoof, my LinkedIn connections & Twitter for building business relationships
- All of the above + Medium + Propulsion Blog + Square2Marketing for learning/
- Medium + Brian Solis + The Energy Project for inspiration
Who is someone undiscovered that we should be reading?
Stephen Waddington - he's "discovered" in the UK and among PR people, but his knowledge and writing expands into more than that.
What is your biggest pet peeve about content?
Not having clearly defined who you are writing for. There's way too much irrelevant content out without context and strategy behind it.
What is the most memorable piece of content of all time?
Simon Sinek's TED Talk on Start with Why.
How would you rank These favorite social apps?
If content types were stocks...
Which ones would you buy, which would you sell, and which would you hold?
BUY: interactive content (tools); slide decks; video
HOLD: blog posts; interactive content (tools); infographics; slide decks
SELL: blog posts; books; ebooks
What haven't we asked you that you'd like to talk about?
You haven't asked what I love the most about the web! It's the ability to meet amazing people from all over the world and network, learn, develop ideas and grow.
